bsb-09-2revision3

The Boston Street Battle this year is on November 14th. As a cold street contest this event marks the end of 2009 and comfortable street skating weather and the Beginning of indoor winter skatepark sessions in New England.

This year it’s less of a marathon style contest and more of a spot battle, this way if you don’t like a certain spot then you don’t have to skate it. Who ever destroys a spot the most will win stuff at that spot. You can win as many spots as you like and whoever wins the most spots is the champion. Prizes for the top 3 at each spot as well as best trick(s) a “grom” 17 and under award a old man 30+ award and other give a-ways where deserved.

The meeting spot and warm up session is 10:00AM at:
Hyde Park Skate Park.
1 Reservation Road
Hyde Park, Massachusetts 02136

we need to start earlier this year cause it gets dark early in the fall.
$13 if you pre-register online before November 6th. $20 if you register the day of.
Visit www.myspace.com/bostonstreetbattle for more info and online registration.

Mile High Battle Results – Mountain Regional

July 21st, 2008 No Comments »

The Mile High Battle was an awesome day for rollerbladers in Colorado. While the weather was slightly hot this didn’t stop people from killing shit all day. The first spot was at Heritage High School in Littleton. It was slightly nerve racking when I showed up 15 minutes late to my own competition and there was only 2 people there, it ended up all right. About a half hour into the first spot some stupid fat lady in a car that she could barley fit in kicked us out. So off to the next spot.
Spot 2 was at University of Denver Colorado. While everybody thought we were going to get kicked out the session lasted close to 45min to an hour. These rails are long square and perfect. There were plenty of hot hot hot shit busted including true farv’s, true savannah 360 sweatys and the whole works. Jeremy Spira broke himself off trying to do a ally oop top soul and hit his lower back on a curb while simultaneously almost hitting his head on a near by pole. It then spawned the birth of his fetal twin as you may have seen on be mag. As we were all ready to leave the security guard kicked us out.
After this everybody braked for lunch. There was plenty of burritos, pizza and tokyo Joes for all.
We decided that to extend the day out a little further that the backup second spot would be used as spot 2.5. This was at the infamous pillar rails, so named because of the two large cement pillars at the end of the rail. More hot shit was thrown down by Ty Jones who we gave prize for destroyer of best spot.
After the session at spot 2.5 degraded to a Frisbee golf game we decided it was time to leave and head off to spot three. This was supposed to be a white kink rail which ty jones again killed with a ill sweaty and a true mizou. However this was short lived due to an old ass security guard kicking us out. So then it was quick thinking to the next spot which was two side by side 30-40 stair rails that went into a baseball field. The frisbee game then ensued again. However there were some sick rail transfers and even a line of five people doing a topsoul at the same time. At this point the it was time for the comp to come to an end. And the winners are.

1. Steven Tat (Bowling Green, KY)
2. Chris Burlingame (Denver, CO)
3. Zach Zemljak and best trick (Denver, CO)
4. Ty Jones (Denver, CO)
5. Anthony Baily (Denver, CO)
